I was born and raised in Sumter, South Carolina. My elementary school years were in my private church school. In middle school I was first introduced to a public school setting. After graduating from high school in 2005, I continued my education at Winthrop University. In 2009 I received my BS degree in Early Childhood Education. My first job in my career field was at a child development center. During this job I worked in a toddler classroom and a preschool classroom. I then transitioned to the school system when I received a position as a kindergarten teacher.
In the Fall of 2010 I began teaching as a lead kindergarten teacher and I still remain in this position. Here I teach and develop lessons that are in line with the Common Core Kindergarten Standards. As a kindergarten teacher I develop lessons, communicate daily with the students' parents, develop school wide programs, and participate in the technology and parent committees. In addition to teaching I have also served as a volunteer tutor for an after school program
During the end of my first school year of teaching kindergarten, I decided to pursue a M.ED degree at Liberty University in Teaching & Learning with a concentration in technology and online instruction. I have enjoyed my experience in this program and artifacts of my work and showcases of my skills from this program at Liberty University can be seen throughout this e-portfolio.
On a personal note, I love spending time with my family! My son Gabriel will soon be one year old and he is a true blessing from God. My fiance is currently a correctional officer and we enjoy "date nights", reading, going on trips, playing board games and watching reality tv shows. I have a host of family members, both immediate and extended, and I love to fellowship with them all.
By God's grace my educational career and personal life will continue to thrive as I pursue other avenues that will challenge my best to become even better.
